about women, children, and families

Covering Kids and Families Covering Kids and Families is a national initiative of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) focused on reducing the number of eligible but uninsured children and adults through enrollment in Medicaid or the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP). It is the nation's single largest effort of its kind. Since 1997 RWJF has invested nearly $150 million in two major initiatives to ensure that every child and adult eligible for Medicaid or SCHIP coverage receives it: Covering Kids and Covering Kids & Families.”
The National Healthy Start Association, whose members include most of the 96 federally funded Healthy Start projects in the United States, promotes community-based maternal and child health programs, particularly those that focus on the reduction of infant mortality, low birthweight and racial disparities in perinatal outcomes.
Diversity Rx promotes language and cultural competence to improve health care for minority, immigrant, and ethnically-diverse communities.
Chester County Health Department works to reduce disease, disability and death among Chester County residents by discouraging tobacco use, eliminating smoke exposure, and increasing access to prevention and cessation programs.
Maternal and Child Health Library is an online guide to maternal and child health information, including databases, publications, resource lists, Web links, the MCH Alert (electronic newsletter), and other resources for health professionals, families, and consumers.
Depression After Delivery provides education, information, support groups, telephone support and referral for women and families coping with mental health issues associated with childbearing, both during pregnancy and postpartum.
Postpartum Support International offers information, support groups, forums, and other resources for women experiencing postpartum depression, anxiety, or related emotions following childbirth.
Association of Maternal and Child Health Programs (AMCHP) is the national organization representing state public health leaders and others working to improve the health and well-being of women, children, and youth, including those with special health care needs, and families.
Cross Cultural Health Care Program (CCHCP) offers cultural competency trainings, interpreter trainings, research projects, community coalition building, and other services, to help promote full access to quality health care that is culturally and linguistically appropriate.
National Council of La Raza (NCLR) works to reduce poverty and discrimination and to improve life opportunities for Hispanic Americans, by assisting Hispanic organizations and by providing research, policy analysis, and advocacy.
Pennsylvania Partnerships for Children employs advocacy, research, and citizen action to help improve the health, early education, and well-being of Pennsylvania's children. The CapWizard page of PPC's Website contains a fill-in form that links to the mailing address, e-mail address, telephone and fax numbers of your Representative and Senator, so you can tell your elected officials to support legislation that helps children.
National Alliance for Hispanic Health , an action forum for Hispanic health and well-being, works to mobilize consumers, support quality care, promote technology use, improve the science base, and encourage philanthropy.
National Perinatal Association promotes the health and well-being of mothers and infants through collaboration, education, advocacy, and leadership.
March of Dimes works to give all babies a fighting chance against the threats to their health: prematurity, birth defects, and low birthweight.
National Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition (HMHB) creates partnerships among community groups, nonprofit organizations, professional associations, businesses and government agencies, to promote optimal health for mothers and babies, especially in underserved communities.
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) serves as a strong advocate for quality health care for women; it also promotes patient education and continuing education for its members, and works to increase public awareness of the changing issues facing women's health care.
American Psychological Association promotes psychological research, the sharing of psychological knowledge, and the application of research findings to the advancement of health, education, and human welfare.
American Psychiatric Association works to ensure humane care and effective treatment for all persons with mental disorder, including mental retardation and substance-related disorders. APA promotes available, accessible, quality psychiatric diagnosis and treatment.
Images of Greater West Chester, an online and print magazine, provides information about housing, schools, health care, banking, and recreation, to people moving to the West Chester area. "A Helping Hand," a feature article about United Way, highlights MCHC's work.
Health Resources and Services Administration provides national leadership, program resources and services needed to improve access to culturally competent, quality health care.
