The Daily Local News visited the Family Center recently to spread the word about our important work preparing the five-year-old children at the center to start kindergarten in the fall. Please view this article to read about Safety Day, a special event which gave children the opportunity to see and board a real school bus. Safety Day is part of the month-long Transition to Kindergarten program run by the Family Center. |

MCHC Gets PANO Certification |

MCHC recently received certification in "Standards of Excellence" through the Pennsylvania Association of Nonprofit Organizations (PANO). This intensive, year-long process included developing new and revised policies and procedures to enhance board governance, human resources functions, financial oversight, volunteer management, and program management. These policies helped us achieve compliance with the revised 990 form for non-profits, and place MCHC among the state's most well-managed and responsibly governed non-profit organizations. |

MCHC Receives Healthy Start Funding Through 2014 |
||
MCHC received notice recently that we have been approved for 5-years of continued funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, which provides funding for 75 Healthy Start organizations nationwide. Though this federal funding has remained flat since 2001, while both costs and community needs have risen, this funding is a key support for the Healthy Start program and for our entire organization. It’s a vote of confidence for the success of our work, and we are very excited. |
