Our Mission
To improve maternal and child health in Chester County
through the collaborative efforts
of individuals, providers, and policy makers |
Our Commitment
To ensure a healthy beginning for all children
by working to reduce barriers to care
and the factors contributing to low birth weight and infant mortality |
| Our Work in the Community |
| The Maternal and Child Health Consortium (MCHC) works throughout Chester County to provide: |
Community-based prenatal outreach, home visiting, referral, and support through our Healthy Start Program |
Community education on maternal and child health issues, and national, state, and local changes in health
and welfare programs |
Education and advocacy efforts with health care providers, insurers, policy makers and funders regarding gaps and barriers to care in Chester County and opportunities for intervention |
| MCHC encourages community involvement by forming collaborative relationships between health and social service providers, communities of faith, public agencies, consumers, businesses, and community groups. |
The MCHC Healthy Start Advisory Board includes over 40 representatives from these groups. A volunteer Board of Directors provides administrative oversight to all programs. |
